Paralysed at 18, she just ran 118 back-to-back marathons across the UK and Ireland

Esmée Gummer ran 99 consecutive days across the UK and Ireland, from June 27 to October 3, covering 5,000 km — 118 back-to-back marathons — and hosting free 5k run clubs in 76 different cities, a Guinness record for most run clubs hosted in different cities by an individual, finishing at Buckingham Palace. Nearly 6,684 people joined her along the way. At 18 she was paralysed in a routine operation and told she might never walk again. Funds are split between Sport In Mind and Wings for Life, which funds spinal-cord-injury research.
