Perseverance just out-drove every vehicle on another world

NASA's Perseverance rover rolled 91.31 metres (about 300 feet) across the rim of Mars's Jezero Crater on 11 October, tipping its odometer to 45.22 kilometres (28.09 miles) — past the record set by the Opportunity rover over nearly 15 years. Perseverance did it in five and a half years, largely driving itself, and is now heading toward some of the oldest terrain ever explored in the solar system.

The upbeat factorthe longest road trip in history happened on another planet, and it is still going.
