Peru just swept six South America travel honours — including its first-ever nature title
Peru won six categories at the regional 2026 World Travel Awards, announced on 12 October: South America's Leading Destination for the fourth consecutive year, its first-ever Leading Nature Destination title, Leading Contributor to Sustainable Tourism for the second time, and Leading Cultural Destination for the eleventh time, while Machupicchu took Leading Tourist Attraction for the ninth time and Peruvian cuisine was named Leading Culinary Destination for the thirteenth. A whole country's nature, heritage and food, recognised at once — with the sustainable-tourism and first-time nature titles pointing at stewardship, not just scenery.
The upbeat factora country honoured not just for being beautiful, but for looking after what makes it so.
