Poynter and IRE win a Hero Award for saving the news itself

The Poynter Institute and Investigative Reporters and Editors have won a 2026 Internet Archive Hero Award for 'Today's News for Tomorrow' — their project to preserve the first draft of history. As news sites vanish and links rot, the project archives reporting so future generations can still read what the world looked like today. In an era of disappearing news, somebody is keeping the receipts.
