Samoa's villages replanted 13,750 native trees — and appointed their own rangers

The Samoa Conservation Society's community-led project in O Le Pupu Pue National Park and surrounding Community Conservation Areas has replanted 13,750 native trees, restored 4 hectares of forest, and cleared the invasive shrub known as Koster's Curse. Seven community rangers, appointed by seven villages, now monitor the recovery as the project nears completion in March 2027.
