Seven hours, fifty-five minutes — and a commander makes history

Jessica Watkins has done it again — only bigger. The geologist who once helped drive a Mars rover just became the first Black woman to command a long-duration space station mission, and her crew got there in record time: their Dragon capsule docked 7 hours 55 minutes after leaving Cape Canaveral, the fastest an American spacecraft has ever made the trip. Watkins, pilot Luke Delaney, Canadian Joshua Kutryk and Russian Sergey Teteryatnikov will spend six months running heart-disease and Parkinson's experiments overhead.
