Seventy-six artworks, one record night: Toronto's art auction raises $1.37 million for a hospital built on compassion

The paddles barely rested. At the Fairmont Royal York on October 19, Art With Heart — now in its 33rd year — auctioned 76 works by Canadian artists, 50 live and 26 in a silent sale, and raised a record $1.37 million for Casey House, Canada's first and only hospital dedicated to people living with and at risk of HIV. A highlight was Zachari Logan's series of 25 one-of-a-kind pansy drawings, made exclusively for the night. Every dollar sustains Casey House's inpatient and outpatient care, delivered without stigma or judgement — proof that a room full of art lovers can fund a room full of care.

The upbeat factorbeauty on the walls, dignity in the wards — $1.37 million of one turned into the other.
