Sgiath the Labrador sniffs out 'sea vomit' — and takes home Animal of the Year

Sgiath, a Scottish Labrador first trained for mountain rescue, has a second career with her nose: she is believed to be the first dog trained to detect an invasive marine organism nicknamed 'sea vomit' by scent. Working with marine ecologist Dr Texa Sim, she was named Animal of the Year at the International Fund for Animal Welfare's Animal Action Awards in London on October 15, alongside six other winners protecting wildlife.

The upbeat factora rescue dog's extraordinary nose, retrained to rescue whole coastlines.
