She was told she wasn't Indian. The court disagreed — passport restored

Shitala Devi of Manali was born in Patlikuhal on May 3, 1972. But when she applied for a passport, a police verification report wrongly claimed she was a citizen of Nepal — and the passport was denied. Justice Sandeep Sharma of the Himachal Pradesh High Court held that she is an Indian citizen by birth under Section 3 of the Citizenship Act, set the adverse police report aside, and ordered a fresh positive verification within two weeks so her passport can be issued.
