Singapore is following 6,000 lives to learn how a whole region can age well

What does healthy ageing look like across Asia's many cultures? Singapore's new ASCEND research centre at the National University of Singapore intends to find out properly: its flagship study will follow 6,000 participants aged 50 to 75 from Chinese, Malay, Indian and other backgrounds, tracking everything from muscle strength and memory to loneliness, finances and neighbourhood design. An AI-powered platform will turn that flood of life data into personalised guidance people can actually use. The centre, reported in NUS's alumni magazine, also aims to train the next generation of ageing researchers and share its playbook with the region.

The upbeat factorinstead of guessing how to grow old well, 6,000 volunteers are helping science learn it — for all of Asia.
