Six countries come to learn from Sindh's teacher licensing policy

Good teachers are a system, not an accident — and Sindh, Pakistan, has been building one. Its teacher licensing policy, run through the Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority (STEDA), sets standards teachers must meet to practise, and it is now drawing study visits from abroad: representatives of six countries — Egypt, Bangladesh, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Pakistan's own officials among them — explored it at the DHIS2 Asia Pacific Conference 2026 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah called it a major achievement that the province's reforms could help other countries strengthen their schools.
