Six hospital departments, one clinic: Dhaka opens joined-up care for liver cancer

Liver cancer care works best when specialists actually work together, and Bangladesh Medical University has now built that teamwork into a building. Its new liver cancer clinic brings more than six departments into one integrated service, so a patient's diagnosis, monitoring and treatment are coordinated instead of scattered. The clinic has been running as a pilot since August and was formally opened by Vice-Chancellor Professor FM Siddiqui during Liver Cancer Awareness Month, alongside a scientific seminar on spotting the disease earlier, when treatment helps most.

The upbeat factorpatients get one joined-up team instead of a maze of separate doors.
