Six to eight cups: a study of 485,934 adults links regular tea with an 11% lower risk of vascular disease
Here is a cheering finding for tea drinkers — with an honest caveat. Following 485,934 adults in China for about nine years, researchers publishing in the Journal of Internal Medicine recorded 14,863 cases of heart and blood-vessel disease and found regular tea drinkers had an 11% lower risk than non-drinkers, with the lowest risk around six to eight cups a day; moderate-strength black tea looked best, while scalding-hot tea looked worse. It is an association, not proof — tea drinkers who also stayed active and did not smoke fared best of all. Still: the humble cup, vindicated as part of a healthy life.
The upbeat factoryour daily cuppa was probably doing more good than you knew.
