Six young sea turtles swim home after months of healing

They arrived stranded and struggling; on October 14 they paddled back into the Atlantic. Six juvenile green sea turtles — named by their carers Frogish, Mangrove Snapper, Highland Cow, Nurse Shark, Armadillo and Silkie Chicken — were released at Ponce Inlet, Florida, after months of treatment at the Marine Science Center's turtle hospital, cheered on by a crowd on the sand. The centre has taken in 243 stranded turtles since January alone, plus hundreds of hatchlings. Each release is the quiet payoff of that unglamorous, daily care.

The upbeat factormonths of patient hands, repaid in six small splashes heading home.
