Six young sea turtles swim home to the Atlantic, and a pelican goes with them

On the sand at Ponce Inlet, Florida, six juvenile green sea turtles with very un-turtle-like names — Frogish, Mangrove Snapper, Highland Cow, Nurse Shark, Armadillo and Silkie Chicken — walked back into the Atlantic after weeks of care at Volusia County's Marine Science Center. A young brown pelican, also rehabilitated, was released the same afternoon. The centre has already taken in 243 sea turtles this year; releases like this one are the whole point of the work.

The upbeat factorsix slow, determined walks across the sand — each one a patient going home.
