Sixteen new turbines are turning in Croatia — 203 gigawatt-hours of clean power a year
On the Dalmatian hills, ACCIONA Energía has switched on two wind farms at once: Opor (27 megawatts, six turbines) in Split-Dalmatia and Boraja II (45 megawatts, ten turbines) in Šibenik-Knin. Together they will generate about 203 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity a year — and avoid roughly 135,000 tonnes of CO2 annually — under 12-year contracts awarded through Croatia's renewable-energy auctions. Construction employed up to 400 people at its peak. With Jelinak already spinning since 2013, ACCIONA's Croatian wind fleet now stands at 102 megawatts, and a 189-megawatt solar plant is rising nearby.
The upbeat factornot a pledge — turbines, turning, metered, and contracted for a dozen years of clean power.
