Sixty homes, and ten families already moved in: Yorkton and Yellow Quill build together

In Yorkton, Saskatchewan, a housing announcement came with something rarer than a promise: keys already in hands. Canada's federal government, the Yorkton Parkland Housing Society and Yellow Quill First Nation together put more than C$5.6 million (about $4 million) into 60 secure rental homes. About C$1.9 million (about $1.3 million) will repair 50 existing Yorkton Parkland homes, with work due to finish in 2028. And C$2.5 million (about $1.8 million) from the Rapid Housing Initiative has already built 10 new single-family homes for Yellow Quill First Nation members on reserve — completed, with residents living in them now. Two kinds of progress in one announcement: homes kept in good repair for the neighbours who already live in them, and new front doors for families who were waiting.

The upbeat factorten of these homes are not a plan — they are already somebody's address.
