Solar roofs over the battery factories: Vietnam switches on 22 MWp of rooftop sun plus storage
The factories that build electric-vehicle batteries now run partly on sunshine. In the Vung Ang Economic Zone of Ha Tinh province, VinEnergo has switched on a rooftop solar system of 22 megawatts-peak paired with 45 megawatt-hours of battery storage, feeding three plants: the VinFast electric-car factory, the VinES battery plant and the VG battery-manufacturing joint venture. Commissioned on 28 October, it is VinEnergo's first project under a Direct Power Purchase Agreement — a setup that lets big users buy renewable power directly rather than only from the grid. Rooftops, storage and a direct contract: a template for industrial power that other factory zones can copy.
