Sunlight is about to become the best teacher in 50 Guinean schools
In Conakry this week, the Orange Guinea Foundation and UNICEF signed an agreement to put solar-powered digital learning hubs — with real internet — into 50 schools across six regions of Guinea, with lessons matched to the national curriculum. The deal also trains teachers, gives 500 adolescent girls dedicated science and technology skills training, and funds 100 scholarships and excellence awards. UNICEF's representative in Guinea, Maddalena Bertolotti, put it plainly: gadgets help, but reliable electricity, good connectivity, strong content, and trained teachers matter most. The hubs build on Guinea's Learning Passport platform, already running in more than 100 schools.
