Sweden holds second place as the world's most innovative economy

WIPO's Global Innovation Index 2026 kept Sweden at number two, behind only Switzerland and ahead of the USA. Six of the world's ten most innovative economies are European. The ranking measures R&D spending, patents, and high-tech exports — and Sweden's startup engine keeps humming.
