Ten years of patience in Redange: five wind turbines now turn for 10,500 households in Luxembourg
The blades were nearly 68 metres long, and getting them through narrow village streets last spring took overnight convoys and a truck that tilted each blade upright to squeeze past. This week in Luxembourg's Redange canton, the effort paid off: five wind turbines — about 21 megawatts in total — were formally inaugurated after ten years of work by local elected teams and developer Soler. They will produce roughly the annual electricity of 10,500 four-person households. The project was designed around its neighbours in nature, too: flower strips for skylarks, hedgerows, nest boxes for swifts, and automatic night-time shutdowns to protect bats.
