The challenge turning kids into hunger heroes

It's Food Waste Prevention Week, and ReFED and Feeding San Diego just threw down a national challenge: kids in grades 4 through 9, in all 50 states, rescuing food and fighting hunger. National champions win a Comic-Con trip, a $750 scholarship, $3,000 for their school and $1,000 for a hunger charity of their choice. “Once kids understand why this matters, it stops being a lesson and becomes their mission,” says ReFED's Nate Clark.
