The pandemic's hardest lesson becomes Bangladesh's promise: oxygen in 20 districts

At the close of Bangladesh's two-day Oxygen Summit in Dhaka, Health State Minister MA Muhit pledged to build integrated medical oxygen networks in at least 20 districts this fiscal year — piped systems, reliable supply chains, trained staff — so no hospital ever again scrambles for the air its patients need. The plan adds an 'Oxygen Access Scorecard' tracking the country's progress, oxygen-therapy training in medical school curricula, and a national ambulance pool. UNICEF Bangladesh's health chief Dr Malalay Ahmadzai joined the summit, a sign the effort is drawing international backing. The memory of empty cylinders is being turned into infrastructure.
