The sloth bear Julia Roberts named 17 years ago is thriving — muskmelon, swims, and hammock naps

In 2009, rescuers pulled a young sloth bear from the people who forced him to dance for tourists. While filming nearby, Julia Roberts visited the sanctuary and named him Odum. Seventeen years on, the now 26-year-old bear is flourishing at the Bannerghatta Bear Rescue Centre: new photos released ahead of World Sloth Bear Day show him feasting on muskmelon, swimming, and dozing in a specially made hammock. From a dancing bear's chains to a hammock in the sun.

The upbeat factorrescued from cruelty, now napping in a hammock at 26.
