The teen who wants to be a teacher just became Boys & Girls Clubs' Youth of the Year

Enrique R. L., a five-year Club member from Saint Lucie County, Florida, was named Boys & Girls Clubs of America's 2026–2027 National Youth of the Year at a New York gala on October 1. He's headed to the University of Florida to study elementary education — he wants to become a teacher — and the honour came with a $50,000 college scholarship, a new Toyota Corolla, and a $25,000 retirement contribution. He was recognised for leadership, service and academic excellence.

The upbeat factorjoy — the kid who gives back is getting his shot.
