Thousands of strangers are recording conversations for America's 250th

StoryCorps and NPR are pairing up thousands of Americans who've never met for 40-minute video conversations about their lives — a giant time capsule called Connect250 for the country's 250th birthday. The idea: a quieter, more human anniversary than the official fanfare. Future generations will hear America the way it actually talked.
