Tiny snails, patiently bred in zoos, are going home to French Polynesia

They are small, but they matter. Around 200 Partula snails from three species — bred through years of coordinated work by zoos including Marwell in Hampshire — have been released into the wild in French Polynesia, restoring species that had vanished from parts of their island home. Partula snails help keep their island ecosystems in balance, and their return is the result of one of conservation's longest-running international breeding efforts.
