Twenty eyes in the sky: a wildfire-watching constellation reaches a new scale

Munich-based OroraTech launched FOREST-20 on October 2 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California — its 20th thermal satellite in orbit and its 18th in just 18 months, billed as the world's largest thermal satellite network. The new morning coverage means fires can be spotted from space more often and faster, shortening the time between a fire starting and crews on the ground learning about it. The data feeds the company's Wildfire Solution platform, used by wildfire customers around the world.

The upbeat factorhope — the earlier a fire is seen, the more can be saved.
