Twenty years of Helen Comrie: the lifeboat Longhope still loves

The Orkney village of Longhope has celebrated 20 years of its lifeboat, RNLB Helen Comrie, which arrived in October 2006. Behind the anniversary is the whole machinery of volunteer rescue: the crew who go to sea, the shore crew, the fundraisers, and the families who back them — at a station that has been saving lives since 1874. Two decades on, the pride that welcomed the boat is, by all accounts, exactly as strong.
