Twin tiger cubs, first of their kind at Fort Worth Zoo

The Fort Worth Zoo has welcomed its first-ever twin Sumatran tiger cubs — two sisters, now about 12 weeks old and 20 pounds each, born to first-time mom Ndari. The smaller is named Barani, meaning "brave"; her sister is Malu, "reserved." Fewer than 650 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild, which makes every cub a small ambassador. "We're hopeful that these cubs will inspire a new generation to learn about and care for their wild counterparts," said zoo chairman Ramona Bass.
