Two million Nigerians can see again — and the drive is just getting started
Health Minister Dr Iziaq Salako told an Abuja roundtable that the JigiBola 2.0 eye-health drive has delivered more than two million free eye screenings and 1.5 million free spectacles in just over a year, trained over 2,200 primary health workers and activated 800 primary care centres across 16 states. The next phase aims at a million more Nigerians across ten more states, with 25,000 free cataract surgeries targeted by 2027. A bank-charity partnership running alongside has already reached 400,000 people on its own.
The upbeat factorhope: restoring sight restores dignity, school days and livelihoods.
