Two Namibian girls, 15 and 10, carry their whole country at a continental championship — and bring home 11 gold medals

Kari Rabie, 15, and Amalia Nel, 10, were the only dancers representing Namibia at the WADF All-Africa Championships in Pretoria, facing competitors from 14 other African countries. Between them they came home with 11 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 8 trophies. Rabie took first place in every section she entered and scored 92% for a Theatre Arts routine — the second-highest score of the entire competition — wearing dresses sewn by her mother, Jeanie. Nel, a decade old, won first place in all six of her single dances. Both train under Christie Mostert at Christie's Dance Academy, and both were crowned overall 'Princess' titles in their styles, judged across all age groups.
