Two weeks, one district at a time: Lesotho vaccinates its children against measles and rubella

In Lesotho's Botha-Bothe district, health teams are working through a two-week national measles and rubella vaccination campaign that runs until 23 October. District public health nurse Mabusane Ratikoane says the district alone aims to reach about 39,363 children aged nine months to 15 years — in school and out of it — with measles-rubella vaccine and Vitamin A, while about 23,208 children aged six to 12 will also receive deworming tablets. The first day started late because of transport problems; by the second day the teams were out earlier, and Ratikoane says they believe the logistics will hold as the campaign gathers momentum.
