Uganda's exports to Europe more than quadrupled in a decade — and Kampala wants the next chapter clean
At the Uganda-EU Business Forum 2026 in Kampala, held alongside the Renewable Energy Conference and Expo, EU Ambassador Jan Sadek laid out a decade of momentum: Ugandan exports to Europe rose from €420 million in 2015 to €1.8 billion (about $2.1 billion) in 2025, and Europe supplied about 79% of last year's foreign direct investment. His message to investors was practical: Uganda's ambitions in manufacturing, healthcare and education all run on reliable, affordable clean electricity — and the forum paired the trade story with a renewable-energy expo to make that case in the same room.
The upbeat factora decade of trade growth, told in export receipts — and a clear-eyed pitch for the clean power to sustain it.
