Uganda's growth outlook jumps to 9.9% — among the brightest forecasts anywhere

The International Monetary Fund's October World Economic Outlook has lifted Uganda's expected growth for 2027 to 9.9%, up from 8.2% in its April forecast — a rare upward revision of that size. The brighter view comes as the country prepares to start commercial oil production, with investment in fields, pipelines and the roads and services around them already lifting activity. A forecast is not money in anyone's pocket yet, but it is a signal that the plans Ugandans have been building toward are starting to register.
