UNDP and Cisco are opening a digital-skills door for 50,000 young Nigerians a year
In Abuja, UNDP and Cisco signed an agreement that plugs Cisco's Networking Academy — which has already reached over a million learners in Nigeria — into the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme, a youth employment scheme funded by the EU's €44 million (about $51 million) investment. Cisco will provide free training in networking, cybersecurity, data analytics, AI and entrepreneurship to 50,000 fellows and alumni a year for three years, valued at more than $52.7 million. UNDP's Elsie Attafuah said the goal is simple: turn a young person's first technical assignment into confidence. The programme has already placed nearly 35,000 fellows with over 11,000 employers across Nigeria's six zones.
