UNESCO honours Peru's CARE for keeping girls in school - one of only two winners worldwide

UNESCO awarded CARE Peru the 2026 UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education for 'Ninas con Oportunidades,' a program running since 2016 that helps secondary-school girls - especially in rural and vulnerable areas - stay in school, graduate and plan their futures. The US$50,000 prize, presented Oct 9 in Paris, will expand the work. CARE Peru is one of only two laureates worldwide in 2026.
