Up to $27.8 million to keep older Americans steady on their feet
Falls are the leading cause of injury for Americans 65 and older — one in four falls every year. The US Department of Health and Human Services announced up to $27.8 million over three years for falls prevention: three initiatives through the Administration for Community Living that expand the CDC's STEADI fall-risk screening and the community program Stepping On, which builds strength, balance, and safer homes. The aim is to help more older adults stay independent where they live.
The upbeat factorhope that more grandparents keep their footing — and their independence.
