170 women, one beloved friend, and £7,000 (about $9,500) raised for the Beatson

Kathleen Hood was, by every account, much loved — and in Blantyre, Scotland, 170 women proved it by reuniting for an emotional tribute lunch in her memory. The gathering, organised by the Share A Care team, raised a remarkable £7,000 (about $9,500) for The Beatson, the Glasgow cancer charity whose work touches families across the west of Scotland. It was part reunion, part memorial, part fundraiser — the particular alchemy by which a community converts grief into help for the next family that needs it. The organisers thanked everyone who attended and supported the event for making the tribute to Kathleen one she would have recognised: full of people, and full of care.
