2.88 lakh (287,967) student inventions just set a Guinness World Record in India
India's schoolchildren have set a world record for sheer inventiveness: the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 has been certified by Guinness World Records as the largest innovation solution competition ever, with 2.88 lakh (287,967) project submissions from school students across the country. Run by the Ministry of Education with the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog and the AICTE, the Buildathon asked students to find a real problem in their community, industry or daily life and build a solution — entries came through idea and prototype tracks, from big-city schools and small-town classrooms alike. The ministry announced the certification on 27 October. Records are usually about one person doing one extraordinary thing; this one is about a quarter of a million children being asked, all at once, to solve something — and answering.
