531 students, blindfolded, in perfect step: a Chennai school's record with a message

Trust, practised 531 times at once. To mark its 55th anniversary, Loyola Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Kodambakkam, Chennai, brought together 531 students from Grades IV to XII to perform a sports drill while wearing blindfolds — simultaneously, in a single venue — for 6 minutes and 31 seconds, a feat certified by Elite World Records. A blindfolded drill demands exactly what adjudicator R. Rakshitha listed: concentration, spatial awareness, physical control and coordination. The school wrapped the record in a message it wants its students to carry: 'Say No to Drugs! Say Yes to Sports!' — and 'Drugs Destroy Dreams. Sports Build Champions.' Tamil Nadu's Minister for School Education, A. Rajmohan, praised the attempt: sports build discipline, confidence and healthy habits.

The upbeat factor531 children who cannot see each other, moving as one — trust, made visible.
