80,000 people from partner countries have trained in India since 2014 — and the classrooms keep growing

India has told the World Trade Organization that more than 80,000 participants from partner countries have passed through its ITEC training programme since 2014 — learning everything from customs modernisation to digital trade. That includes over 430 trade officials and diplomats who took 18 specialised courses on WTO rules at the Centre for WTO Studies since 2021, and roughly 700 customs officers trained through more than 30 programmes run by India's customs academy, which also serves as a regional training centre for Asia-Pacific. Newer courses reach into green customs and environment-linked trade.

The upbeat factorexpertise, freely shared across borders for a decade, has quietly become a small university for the world's trade officials.
