A$1.8 billion (about $1.2 billion) in new financing is backing 1.2 gigawatts of Australian wind, solar and batteries
Money is the quiet bottleneck of the energy transition. Neoen, Australia's largest renewable energy company, has secured A$1.8 billion (about $1.2 billion) in debt financing from 13 lenders for a 1.2-gigawatt portfolio: two wind farms, a solar farm and two big batteries across three states, including the Hornsdale Power Reserve in South Australia and the 440-megawatt Culcairn Solar Farm in New South Wales. Since 2024 the company has raised more than A$5 billion (about $3.3 billion) covering 4.7 gigawatts in Australia — financing that turns permitted projects into steel in the ground.
The upbeat factorthe unglamorous signature that makes clean power real — lenders lining up, in billions, behind wind, sun and storage.
