A £100 (about $134) Braille printer, built by two brothers for their grandfather

Tom Hunt arrived at the University of Bristol this September to study design engineering — carrying a prize. With his brother Felix, he built BrailleGo!, a portable printer that produces Braille documents for around £100 (about $134), a fraction of what existing machines cost. The idea began with their blind grandfather. Competing for the UK at the World Robot Olympiad European Open Championship in Zagreb, the brothers — team name Hunt Robotics — won Best Start-Up Idea and took second place in both the European and global Senior Future Innovators rankings, against 220 national-winning teams from 45 countries. The little printer is aimed at everyday documents: children's books, museum guides, public information leaflets and meeting agendas.

The upbeat factora grandson's love, engineered down to a price any school could afford.
