A 100-acre care township rises in Karjat where orphaned children, elders and people with disabilities will live as one community
Nita Ambani has laid the foundation stone for Anant Ashray, a not-for-profit, 100-acre care township in Karjat, Maharashtra, planned as a lifelong home for more than 5,000 people — orphaned children, senior citizens and people with physical and developmental disabilities. Instead of separate institutions, residents will live in family-style homes across eight villages, with a hospital, rehabilitation centre and therapy services on site, and outreach care for about 1,000 people in neighbouring communities.
The upbeat factornot an institution but a hometown — built for the people society most often houses out of sight.
