A 49.9-megawatt solar farm wins its place in the Angus countryside

Near Arbroath in Angus, fields that grow food will soon also harvest light. UK developer RES has secured planning consent for its 49.9-megawatt Bonnyknox solar farm in Scotland, the company said on Tuesday. A project of that size generates enough electricity for tens of thousands of homes over a year, while the land between and beneath panels typically stays in grass, grazed and recovering. Planning consent is the unglamorous moment that decides whether clean power actually gets built — years of surveys, community consultation and grid work compressed into one decision. For Angus, that decision is now yes, and construction can follow.

The upbeat factorafter years of paperwork, one word — yes — puts a solar farm's worth of clean power on the calendar.
