A 7.5-gigawatt solar-cell factory lands in Indonesia, its maker's first overseas base

Indonesia's solar ambitions now have a factory to match. Chinese manufacturer Yingfa Ruineng has unveiled a 7.5-gigawatt solar-cell plant in Indonesia through its subsidiary BCI — the company's first production base outside China. The plant will make high-efficiency TOPCon cells for Indonesia's domestic market and serve as a supply hub for Southeast Asia and beyond, supporting the country's programme to build out 100 gigawatts of solar power with more of the value chain made at home. Yingfa is no minnow: it ranked second worldwide for solar-cell shipments in the first half of 2026, and the Indonesian plant lifts its combined capacity across four bases to 51.5 gigawatts.

The upbeat factorpanels for Southeast Asia, made in Southeast Asia — a solar supply chain putting down local roots.
