A cancer vaccine plus standard treatment is keeping people with advanced lung cancer alive longer in a Phase 2 trial
OSE Immunotherapeutics has reported final results from Combi-TED, an academic Phase 2 trial of Tedopi, a therapeutic cancer vaccine, in 106 people with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer whose disease had progressed after first-line treatment. Patients received Tedopi combined with either chemotherapy (docetaxel) or immunotherapy (nivolumab), or docetaxel alone. The combinations showed encouraging overall survival compared with chemotherapy alone, with an acceptable safety profile, in a population that is hard to treat. 'The overall survival observed is a strong signal,' said lead investigator Professor Federico Cappuzzo of Rome's National Cancer Institute Regina Elena. A Phase 3 trial, ARTEMIA, testing Tedopi on its own against docetaxel, is now under way — the step that will tell whether the signal holds.
