A wellbeing centre for 40 lakh (4 million) students: Bangladesh's National University bets on minds as well as marks
Bangladesh's National University has signed an agreement with Bioted to build a Career and Wellbeing Centre for its nearly 40 lakh (4 million) students, spread across a vast network of affiliated colleges. The centre will offer thalassaemia screening with confidential genetic counselling, mental-health support with referrals to specialists, and practical training in digital services, business and finance, workplace English, and care work — with a deliberate emphasis on jobs for women graduates. Vice-Chancellor ASM Amanullah signed for the university in Dhaka on Friday. For most of its students, this will be the first time career help and mental-health care arrive as part of the degree itself, not as a luxury after it.
