After 25 years of music, Linton Festival hands over £250,000 (about $340,000) raised for charity

Every summer for 25 years, an idyllic Herefordshire village welcomed some 3,000 festival-goers to the grounds of The Alma Inn — entirely run by volunteers, entirely for charity. This summer's festival was the last, and at a presentation evening at the pub, the Linton Festival committee distributed its final grants to 20 charities and organisations, including Herefordshire Mind, the MND Association, Hope Support Services, the HELP Appeal air ambulance, Linton Brownies and John Kyrle High School. The running total over the festival's life: £250,000 (about $340,000) for local causes. 'Reaching £250,000 raised for local causes is an incredible milestone, and one we're immensely proud of,' said chairman Dave Lambert. A swansong, sung at full volume.

The upbeat factora quarter-century of weekends, volunteers and music — converted, in the end, into a quarter of a million pounds of good.
